Criminal Law:  A large area of the firm’s practice is the area of criminal law. Whether charged with a misdemeanor or a felony our attorneys are experienced in handling numerous kinds of criminal cases from “property related” crimes like theft, criminal mischief and burglary to “person related” crimes such as battery, robbery, domestic violence and others. Many of the alleged crimes are the result of or related to drug and or alcohol addiction, and our firm concentrates on the defense of those charged with drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). Another area of criminal law relates to representation of those charged with violating probation. These are very serious and require skilled, knowledgeable attorneys to resolve.

Family Law: Philpott and Sawtelle, PLLC also devotes a substantial amount of time resolving the myriad of problems faced by divorcing spouses, and related family law matters such as custody or timesharing, ensuring that parties’ marital assets are equitably divided, obtaining child support, or in instances where problems arise post-divorce, modifying support and custody determinations and enforcing prior court orders become necessary.

Often unmarried partners have children and this raises several concerns related to the rights of parents such as establishing paternity, developing reasonable parenting plans, and the like. OTHER PRACTICE AREAS
Another area of our practice involves civil law related issues. Sometimes these problems are property related e.g., landlord-tenant concerns and contract disputes of various kinds.
